If you are one those unfortunate souls that has been stricken by the flu and cold season this weekend, you can take solace in the fact that you will be able to curl up on the couch and saturate your senses with another juicy serving of free mixed martial arts courtesy of the Ultimate fighting Championship (UFC). The organization is following up last week’s well received free FOX card with two more action packed nights: UFC on FX 6 and The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 16 Finale: “Nelson vs. Mitrione.”
UFC on FX 6 will kick off the weekend from the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre inBroadbeach,Australia, on Dec. 14, 2012. Lightweight elites George Sotiropolis and Ross Pearson, both alumni of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) series, will be headlining the card. Pearson and Sotiropolous served as opposing coaches in the Australian version of TUF, accurately named “Smashes,” and will conclude the season on Friday night.
The event from “Down Under” also features an intriguing middleweight battle between leg lock specialist Rousimar Palhares and former Bellator champion Hector Lombard. This fight will determine which of these two fighters could be considered as viable contenders and challengers for Anderson Silva’s 185-pound throne in 2013. The remaining two main card fights will cap off the Australian TUF season as Brad Scott faces off against Robert Whittaker in the welterweight final and Colin Fletcher takes on Norman Park to determine the lightweight season winner.
The Fuel TV prelims will be serving up some solid fights as well. Here is how the undercard will play out:

205 lbs.: Cody Donovan vs. Nick Penner
Less than 24-hours removed from UFC on FX 6, The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 16 Finale: “Nelson vs. Mitrione” event kicks off from “The Joint” inside Hard Rock Hotel & Casino inLas Vegas,Nevada. The event will be headlined by heavyweight coach, Roy Nelson, facing off against Matt Mitrione who is replacing an injured Shane Carwin. In addition, welterweight finalists from the show, Mike Ricci and Colton Smith, will face each other in order to crown this season’s TUF winner.
The main card also features another heavyweight battle between Pat Barry and Shane del Rosario. Rounding out the main card will be two entertaining bouts featuring Melvin Guillard vs. Jamie Varner and Jonathan Brookins vs. Dustin Poirier.
