UFC 165: Jones vs Gustafsson Predictions- Kamikaze Overdrive MMA

Scott Johnson

The UFC heads North of the border for a double dip of Championship gold. Headlining UFC 165 in Toronto, Jon Jones puts his title on the line in an attempt to continue his record setting run atop of the Light Heavyweight champion. Opposing the best 205er in the World, will be his biggest challenge to date, at least physically. Boasting attributes similar to the champ, Swedish superstar Alexander Gustafsson, will offer an interesting test for the champ.

To date Jones has dispatched champion after champion. With wins over Rashad Evans, Vitor Belfort, Lyoto Machida, Rampage Jackson, and Shogun Rua all under his belt. Now Gustafsson represents the next stage in Jones career, leading a dangerous list of up and coming challengers ready to take the gold from the young champion. Will Jones add the Swede to his pile of victims or will UFC gold head across the Atlantic Ocean back to Europe for the first time?

In the co-main event, another UFC title will be on the line as Interim-Bantamweight champion Renan Barao defends his title for the second time, facing fourth ranked Eddie Wineland. With the possible return of the Bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz on the horizon, this will most likely be the final 135 pound title fight with the interim tag attached. Wineland is the former and the inaugural WEC 135 pound champ and has picked up impressive wins over Brad Pickett and Scott Jorgensen to earn this shot. Barao has taken definitive wins from two of the best in the division, Urijah Faber and Michael McDonald, on his current run and will look to add another with the dangerous Wineland standing in his way.
