UFC 164: Henderson vs Pettis 2 Predictions- Kamikaze Overdrive MMA

Scott Johnson

The fights just keep coming in waves for the UFC to finish out the Summer! With 36 fights in 10 days, we have seen battles in every weight class, but none bigger or more anticipated then the main event of UFC 164. Headlining the Milwaukee card will be a fight 3 years in the making as former WEC Lightweight champions Ben Henderson and Anthony Pettis meet, but this time with the UFC gold on the line.

In the final event of the final WEC show, Pettis and Henderson went toe to toe for 5 rounds in a back and forth affair. In the end the unmatched ‘Showtime Kick’ landed by Anthony Pettis in the final round secured him the decision win and the right to move onto the UFC to challenge for the title. Unfortunately for Pettis, a sequence of events prevented him from immediately challenging for the title and then a debut defeat against Clay Guida halted his title aspirations in their tracks. Conversely, Henderson was ignited by the defeat and laid a path of destruction directly into title contention. He went on to defeat Frankie Edgar to gain the title, won the rematch and followed it up with wins over Nate Diaz and the Strikeforce champion Gilbert Melendez. Will Henderson be able to avenge the loss of the only man to beat him in recent memory or will ‘Showtime’ rein supreme again? Find out at UFC 164.

In the co-main event former UFC Heavyweight champions will collide in another battle for the history books. After Josh Barnett was stripped of the UFC HW title for testing positive for PEDs, Frank Mir stepped in and captured the vacant strap. Now Barnett has returned to the UFC to recapture what is his and uphold his claim that Mir was never the true UFC Heavyweight champion. The winner of this bout will most certainly find themselves in the direct discussion to challenge for the UFC title once again and bring history full circle.

Rounding out the main card will be a pair of Featherweight fights that feature arguably the best 145 pound fighter in the world, not wearing a title belt. Number one ranked Chad Mendes looks to further his title rematch plans when he battles proven veteran Clay Guida, who will be attempting to move to 2-0 at FW. A win for Guida over Mendes would no doubt place him right at the top of the division.

Young guns Erik Koch and Dustin Poirier will also clash at 145. Both fighters have suffered set backs in their respective assents up the title ranks, but a win here will put one of them right back in the path to the top. Heavyweights Brandon Vera and Ben Rothwell have both had brushes the elite level competition, but neither have been able to break through to that next level. Vera once self-touted himself as a future 2 division champion, but the losses began to pile up at HW and the drop to LHW proved not to be the answer. Rothwell is a true heavyweight giant and ‘Big Ben’ has no intentions of letting the smaller man taking his place in the rankings.

The prelims have a number of interesting battles including a Lightweight battle of veterans as Glieson Tibau meets Jamie Varner. Top 10 ranked Flyweights Louis Gaudinot and Tim Elliot will meet in the Undercard co-main event along with fights featuring the return of top Korean talents Hyun Gyu Lim and Kyung Ho Kang.

UFC 164 is stacked top to bottom with talent and exciting matchups with plenty of viable betting options to pull in the profit and keep the cash flow rolling in the right direction. Keep coming back to Kamikazeoverdrive.net for all of your UFC prediction and betting needs.
