UFC Fight Night 28: Teixeira vs Bader Predictions- Kamikaze Overdrive MMA

Scott Johnson

Rounding out an exciting 3 UFC events in only 8 days, the greatest fighting organization in the world returns to Brazil for another action packed card headline by a Light Heavyweight bout. Featured in the main event will be a bout between #3 ranked Glover Teixeira and the hard hitting Ryan Bader. Bader isn’t rank in the UFC officials Top 10, but he is on the cusp and a win here would no doubt re-establish the NCAA D-1 wrestler as a top contender at 205 pounds.

Teixeira is being touted at the next major title threat for the current UFC LHW champion Jon Jones and a win over Bader could get him that shot. Already with victories over James Te Huna and Rampage Jackson, along with a winning streak that would be extended to 20 in a row and a UFC record of 5-0 should he defeat Bader, it would be hard to give Glover a shot at the title. Bader was the last man to face Jon Jones prior to his rise to the LHW thrown and too is anxious to get another crack at him and will have no part of Glover using him to build his name.

With the rise of a new Middleweight champion, the list of contenders looking for a shot at the 185 pound title is growing. Yushin Okami knows now more then ever he has a chance for another shot at UFC gold and is looking to capitalize. Should Chris Weidman retain the Middleweight title, Okami has his eyes firmly set on testing the young champion. Jacare Souza has already worn Middleweight gold in his career, capturing the Strikeforce 185 pound strap. He is already 1-0 in the UFC and is currently ridding a 4 fight winning streak, finishing all of his opponents inside the distance. A win over Okami would add a huge name to his growing resume and make him a legitimate option as the next Middleweight contender.

The 6 fight main card will also include a battle of top 10 ranked Flyweights. Top contender Joseph Benavidez meets former World #1 ranked Jussier Formiga. The winner of this bout could find themselves signing on the dotted line to challenge  the division’s only UFC champion- Demetrious Johnson. Fan favourite, Francisco Trinaldo returns to action and welcomes Polish Lightweight Piotr Hallman to the cage. Trinaldo is currently 3-1 inside the Octagon, but the hard hitting European prospect is going to be a significant test for the Brazilian. Also on the card Rafael Natal battles Ultimate Fighter cast member Tor Troeng at Middleweight and Marcos Vinicius makes his Flyweight debut when he meets debuting Russia prospect Ali Bagautinov.
